Oakcrest students selected for District Chorus
After auditioning in November, 11 Oakcrest students were selected to participate in District Chorus at Herndon High School on February 10. They were chosen from a large pool of performers from District XII which includes students from areas of local Fairfax and Arlington counties.
The auditions took place at Chantilly High School on November 5, 2022, and students performed “Whither Must I Wander” by 20th-century composer Ralph Vaughn Williams and also demonstrated their sight-reading abilities by singing a song new to them.
On February 10 and 11, Oakcrest students will sing in either the SATB mixed high school choir (men and women) or the treble choir (all-female), according to the choir for which they were selected. A guest choral director will conduct the students in the choir from throughout the district.
Because of the strength of our choral music program, Oakcrest students have been selected for the District XII Chorus consistently over the years.
