Oakcrest School, an independent school for girls in grades 6-12 guided by the teachings of the Catholic Church and the spirituality of Opus Dei, located in Vienna, Virginia, seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher committed to and supportive of the mission of Oakcrest to join our English Department. This full time position will start on March 5, 2025.
Oakcrest English teachers believe that the study of literature inspires students to seek the True, the Good, and the Beautiful. The study of literature encourages a love of reading, inspires wonder about the world, and promotes the imitation of virtue. Students across the grades participate in engaging class discussions highlighting their close reading and understanding of the text. The writing curriculum builds skills in grammar and writing in the middle school and the high school writing program builds on these skills culminating in the writing and presenting of the senior thesis.
Applicants should possess:

A bachelor’s degree in English, liberal arts, or a related field (required); Master of Arts in English preferred;

A minimum of three to five years teaching experience preferred;

A strong educational background in literature and/or the liberal arts preferred;

Commitment to excellent teaching and to continued professional development;

Excellent communication skills and an understanding of the developmental needs of adolescent girls;

Experience with and desire to collaboratively work as part of a team;

Desire to involve oneself with the school and communicate effectively beyond the classroom.
