An original short radio play written by Oakcrest alumna Kiley Hatch ('19) has been produced and released by New York City-based Catholic theatre company The Merry Beggars.
When COVID-19 hit the United States, The Merry Beggars launched a contest for 10-minute radio plays responding to the theme of "quarantine." Out of over one hundred submissions, Kiley's play "I Do Like the Rain," was one of twelve chosen by The Merry Beggars to be professionally produced. The play, which follows a young family as they road trip to their parents' home, can be found on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and all main streaming platforms.
This is just the beginning of Kiley's work with The Merry Beggars, as she recently began a playwriting internship with them. She is currently writing a serial children's play which will be produced by The Merry Beggars in the spring of 2021.
