Chamber Ensemble

Middle School instrumental music students continue developing their sight reading and technical abilities through the preparation of various compositions that encompass a range of styles and time periods with increasing levels of difficulty. The current Chamber Ensemble includes strings, harp, flute, clarinet, and bass clarinet. Other instruments may be included at the discretion of the director. Students who do not currently play an instrument may join the Chamber Ensemble if they commit to taking private lessons throughout the year in order to catch up with the ensemble. Instruments available to beginning students are flute, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, French horn, or any member of the string family.

Chamber Orchestra

Students in Upper School may play with the Chamber Orchestra. Orchestra students continue building upon the techniques and ensemble skills begun in Middle School. They learn an increasingly challenging repertoire of varying styles from classical to contemporary. The current Chamber Orchestra includes strings, harp, flute, and clarinet. Other instruments may be included at the discretion of the director. Students who do not currently play an instrument may join the Chamber Orchestra if they commit to taking private lessons throughout the year in order to catch up with the ensemble. Instruments available to beginning students are flute, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, French horn, or any member of the string family.

Private harp lessons are offered by Alix Baldwin.
Private flute lessons are offered by Claire Smith.
Private violin/viola lessons are offered by Mary Ferstl Dausch.

Summer Music Program offerings have ranged from Beginner Harp to Intermediate Harp, as well as a Summer Strings intensive.
