An independent school for girls in grades 6-12, guided by the teachings of the Catholic Church and the spirituality of Opus Dei, Oakcrest School was founded in 1976 and is located in Vienna, Virginia, 17 miles west of Washington, D.C. Oakcrest students come from all over the DMV, and our students and families as well as our faculty and staff are noted for their deep commitment to the school’s mission.
Oakcrest School seeks a full-time Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications to join our team, effective July 1, 2025 or sooner. Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications is responsible for implementing and executing a strategic communication and marketing plan to advance the Oakcrest mission and brand and to position the school for strong admissions and philanthropic engagement.
The Director will oversee and actively participate in the creation, design, budget and production of school publications; manage the content of the school's social media presence; administer the content of the school website; coordinate all advertising, publicity, and public relations; serve as the school's spokesperson when so designated by the Head of School; and be responsible for planning and executing all strategic external communications to our various constituents. This position works in close partnership with Senior Administration, Admissions, Advancement, Faculty, Parents, and the Board of Directors.

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Communications or a related field is required

7-10 years of experience in marketing and communications in a professional environment (independent school industry or an organization with a Catholic mission is preferred), with three or more years in a supervisory role

Prior success in social media and digital marketing including planning campaigns, message development, analyzing metrics, and identifying trends

Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Workspace Suite, as well as experience with Blackbaud, Constant Contact, EventBrite, or other marketing platforms preferred.

Demonstrated experience working with, cultivating and maintaining media contacts

Exceptional verbal, written and communication skills and strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail and time management

Creative leadership with ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment
