Title: Lacrosse Coaches
Department: Athletics
Reports to: Middle School and/or Upper School Athletic Director
Position Responsibilities:
- Uses sound and acceptable coaching techniques in all phases of the program.
- Organizes safe and effective practice sessions.
- Develops and delegates specific job tasks for assistant(s).
- Develops and adheres to an efficient and technically sound conditioning and injury prevention and treatment program.
- Develops in conjunction with the Athletic Director a sound system for equipment accountability.
- Establishes a working rapport with and is directly responsible to the Athletic Director.
- Adheres to all school policies regarding the athletic program.
- Strives to build good sportsmanship among players, coaches, and fans.
- Models good sportsmanship and enforces sportsmanlike behavior among the players at all times.
- Establishes good public relations in the school and community.
- Coaches individual participants in the fundamental and advanced skills necessary to develop their full potential in the sport involved.
- Demonstrates ability to motivate the team and individual players.
- Commands respect of the players.
- Plan and execute game strategies, keeping in mind the abilities of her team.
- Instills a positive attitude towards self, team, and sport on the part of individual players.
- Communicates personal and program expectations to team and to individual players.
- Develops a firm, fair and consistent discipline system for the team and for individual players.
- Follows proper procedures in handling discipline problems.
- Works with the Athletic Director to develop a budget for next year.
- Helps athletes that are interested in continuing in college to achieve their goal through appropriate means.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude towards and enthusiasm for coaching assignment.
- Attends clinics, workshops, and professional organizations as related to coaching area.
- Makes an effort to improve coaching strategies and techniques.
- Evaluates assistant(s) at the end of the season.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintain season records, individual statistics and other team information as appropriate. Scorebooks and other information should be maintained and returned to the Athletic Director at the end of each season for archiving purposes.
- Abide by and promote sound ethics according to the mission and philosophy of Oakcrest School.
- Help determine end of season awards.
- Attend the end of season awards night and prepare a speech. Remarks about individual athletes must be sent to the Athletic Director for archiving purposes.
Requirements:
1. First Aid and CPR Certification
2. Clean background check as required by law.
3. Playing experience at the club or collegiate level.
4. Coaching experience in the sport.
5. Understanding of the rules and basic skills of the sport.
The season begins in early March and ends in late May.
