Oakcrest Announces 2025 National Merit Finalist

Oakcrest School is pleased to announce the recognition of senior Zosia C. ’25 as a Finalist in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Competition.

This fall, Zosia was named a Semifinalist, representing the top 1 percent of the 1.3 million high school juniors nationwide who entered the 2025 competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

To achieve the finalist level, Zosia was required to maintain a record of very high academic performance, complete the National Merit Scholarship Application, which includes writing an essay, and earn an SAT or ACT score that confirms her previous PSAT/NMSQT performance.

“Zosia is a dedicated student and has proven to be capable of astonishing accomplishments,” said Head of School Christie Keuchel. “She is a tremendous gift to Oakcrest and will continue to make her mark as she graduates from Oakcrest to pursue the next chapter of her life.”

“She embodies the Portrait of an Oakcrest graduate,” Mrs. Keuchel continued. “Oakcrest recognizes the vocation of women as trustees of humanity,* and provides a culture of freedom and responsibility in which young women thrive.”

The joy that comes from knowing she is a child of God impels the Oakcrest graduate to positively impact family and society through her faith, love for learning, ability to recognize truth, and her courage to stand by it. An Oakcrest education provides each student with an academic and spiritual formation that allows her to develop a spirit of service and leadership, and to acquire a self-knowledge that informs her growth in virtue. Oakcrest graduates possess a love for beauty in the world, as well as a sense of responsibility to sustain and create it.

“This personal, dynamic, integral education shapes a person who can go on to recognize the beauty and depth of each person because she has first been taught to discover this about herself,” explained Mrs. Keuchel. “When you meet a young woman like this, you realize that she will make a tremendous impact to those around her in her family, among her friends, at her university, and in her community because she has received this transformative educational experience and is poised to share its benefits with others.”

Earlier this year, three other Oakcrest seniors were named as commended students in the National Merit Scholarship Competition: Ashleigh Y. ’25, Maude P. ’25 and Claire H. ’25. These students were among the top 34,000 students nationwide who showed exceptional academic promise.

These seniors will graduate alongside 51 classmates as the Oakcrest Class of 2025 this coming June.
