Sacred Music Intensive

This one-week, intensive program is an opportunity for young musicians to expand their experience in music and gain confidence as leaders of choral music. This summer’s program focuses on the sung Mass, and the place of sacred music in the Liturgy. The participants will gain both theological and musical instruction, including Gregorian Chant notation, modes and proper singing technique, along with training in music directing.

Each day will involve singing sessions, lessons in conducting, and lectures on the history and theology of chant, focusing on the music which will be sung during the Mass on Friday, June 20 at noon in the Oakcrest Chapel.

This program is a great opportunity for young women to gain confidence in leadership and performance. It is perfect for those who are eager to learn more about music and its importance in the Liturgy, while gaining practical skills for music ministry in their parish and school.

Participants should be able to sing on pitch. Experience in choir is recommended.
